The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Paavai College of Engineering successfully organized a Workshop titled “Troubleshooting, Calibration and Dismantling of Critical Care Equipment” on 03rd September 2026. The workshop was conducted by Ms. K. Santhiya, Biomedical Trainer, Atheenapandian Private Limited, Chennai, who provided valuable industrial exposure and practical knowledge on the operation, troubleshooting, calibration, maintenance, and dismantling of critical care equipment. The event was presided over by Dr. V. Hariharan, M.E., Ph.D., Principal, Paavai College of Engineering, who highlighted the importance of practical and hands-on learning in Biomedical Engineering. He emphasized that students should acquire technical skills related to the maintenance and safe operation of medical equipment used in critical care environments. Mr. R. Prabu, HoD of Biomedical Engineering, Paavai College of Engineering, addressed the gathering and welcomed the resource person. He appreciated the initiative of conducting the workshop and emphasized the importance of industrial exposure for developing the professional competencies of Biomedical Engineering students. The workshop provided participants with practical insights into fault identification, troubleshooting procedures, calibration techniques, preventive maintenance, and safe dismantling and reassembly of critical care equipment. The resource person explained systematic approaches for identifying equipment faults and demonstrated the importance of following manufacturer guidelines and safety procedures during maintenance activities. The session covered various critical care equipment and their maintenance aspects, including Ventilator, CPAP & Patient Monitoring System, Centrifuge & Autoclave, Nebulizer & Oxygen Concentrator, and other essential hospital equipment. The workshop commenced with a welcome address by Miss. S. Divhyadharshini , Third Year BME, followed by an introduction of the resource person by Miss. S. Oviya, Third Year BME. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. E. Diwakar, Third Year BME. Mr. R.Prabu, Convener, Heads of various Departments, faculty members, and students were present during the workshop. The programme provided valuable practical exposure to the participants and enhanced their understanding of troubleshooting, calibration, maintenance, and dismantling procedures for critical care equipment.
