The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Paavai College of Engineering, Namakkal, organized a One-day industrial visit to 440/230-110kV K.R. Thoppur Substation on 10.09.2026 (Thursday). The visit aimed to enhance students’ practical understanding of electrical power transmission and distribution systems, as well as the equipment layout and protection mechanisms used in substations. A total of 46 students from the third year of the EEE Department, accompanied by faculty members Mr. P. Gopinathan and Mr. N. Mohanasundaram, and Mrs. S.A. Nivethaa participated in the industrial visit.
The visit commenced with an introductory session by the plant officials, who briefed the students on the substation’s purpose, operation, and safety measures. Students were divided into two batches and guided through various functional areas, including the Control Room, Transformer Yard, Switchyard Section, and Protection and Grounding System. Throughout the visit, engineers interacted with the students, addressed their queries, and emphasized the importance of preventive maintenance, system reliability, and energy efficiency in substation operation.
