The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Paavai College of Engineering (PCE), organized a One-Day Industrial Visit to Nitha Aerospace, Salem, on 29 July 2026 for the second-year B.E. Mechanical Engineering students. A total of 28 students, accompanied by 2 faculty members, participated in the visit. The primary objective of the industrial visit was to provide students with practical exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies and industrial practices followed in the aerospace manufacturing sector.
Nitha Aerospace, Salem, is a precision engineering company engaged in the manufacturing of high-quality components for the aerospace and engineering industries. The company utilizes advanced production technologies, modern machinery, and stringent quality control systems to manufacture precision components that meet industry standards.
During the visit, the company engineers warmly welcomed the students and provided a detailed overview of the company’s operations, manufacturing facilities, production workflow, and quality management systems. The students were guided through various production sections, where they had the opportunity to observe advanced manufacturing processes and interact with experienced technical professionals. The engineers explained the significance of heat treatment processes in enhancing the mechanical properties of engineering materials, including strength, hardness, and durability. The students also observed the working principles and applications of CNC laser cutting technology, which is used to achieve high precision, excellent surface finish, and efficient material utilization. In addition, the students gained practical knowledge of fabrication processes, including cutting, bending, welding, assembly, and finishing operations involved in aerospace component manufacturing.
The students also gained valuable insights into quality inspection methods, safety practices, and production planning techniques followed by the company to ensure the manufacturing of reliable and high-quality products. The industrial exposure helped students understand the practical applications of theoretical concepts learned in classrooms and laboratories.
