The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Paavai College of Engineering organized online guest lecture titled “Power System: Challenges, Technologies and Future Trends” on 28th August 2026.
Ms. Srinithi S, Third-year EEE, welcomed the gathering and Ms. Harishna A, a Third-year EEE, introduced the chief guest.
Dr. D. Prasad, Assistant Professor Department of EEE, Sona College of Technology, Salem served as the resource person for the Online Guest Lecture. He explained that the power system is the backbone of modern society and plays a vital role in economic growth, industrial development, and improving the quality of life. With the rapid increase in electricity demand, the power sector is facing several challenges, including grid stability, reliability, power quality, transmission and distribution losses, renewable energy integration, cyber security, and climate-related disturbances. At the same time, remarkable technological developments are transforming conventional power systems. Technologies such as smart grids, HVDC transmission, FACTS devices and energy storage systems, micro grids, advanced protection, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and digital monitoring are enabling power systems to become more efficient, flexible, and reliable.
He also encourage our students to continuously develop knowledge and practical skills in emerging areas of power systems, renewable energy, power electronics, smart grids, energy storage, and artificial intelligence.
Finally, the vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Srinithi S, a Third -year student. The Online Guest Lecture was successfully concluded. The session was highly informative and enriched the participants with valuable knowledge.
Dr.A.Rathinam, Mr. R. Jeevanandh and Mrs. S. A. Nivethaa, coordinated the Online Guest Lecture along with other faculty members. Around 78 participants actively took part in the online guest lecture.
