The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Paavai College of Engineering, conducted a Guest Lecture on “Cyber Security Career for Electrical Engineer” on 27th August 2026.
The programme commenced with the welcome address by Ms. Srinithi S, III Year EEE, followed by the introduction of the resource person by Ms. Harishna A, III Year EEE.
Dr. A. Immanuvel, Vice Principal of Paavai College of Engineering, delivered the presidential address. He stated that, we are living in an era where technology has become an integral part of our daily lives. Electrical engineering is no longer limited to power systems, machines and circuits. Today, electrical engineers are working with smart grids, industrial automation, embedded systems, electric vehicles, IoT devices, and interconnected control systems. With this growing digital integration, cyber security has become an essential part of engineering.
Dr. S. JAI GANESH, Assistant Professor, Department of CSE-Cyber Security, Indian Institute of Technology, Kottayam served as the resource person for the webinar. He stated that Cyber threats can affect not only computers and networks but also critical infrastructure such as power plants, manufacturing industries, transportation system and smart devices. Therefore, electrical engineers with knowledge of cyber security have excellent opportunities to contribute to the protection of these systems.
He encourage our students to develop skills in networking, programming, Linux, ethical hacking, industrial control systems, and cyber security fundamentals. Along with academic knowledge, practical learning, internships, projects, and continuous self-development are essential for building a successful career.
The session concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Srinithi S, III Year EEE. The guest lecture was coordinated by Dr. A. Rathinam, Mr. N. Mohanasundaram and Mrs. R. Bhuvaneshwari, along with the support of the faculty members. A total of 78 participants attended and benefited from the programme.
