Paavai College of Engineering organized an NSS Trekking and Tree Plantation Programme on 5 October 2026. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. V. Hariharan, Ph.D., Principal, Paavai College of Engineering. The primary objective of the programme was to encourage students to actively participate in community service, develop teamwork, and promote physical fitness. The programme also aligned with the core objectives of the National Service Scheme (NSS) by fostering environmental awareness, social responsibility, and personal development among students.
The one-day trekking programme was organized from Paavai College of Engineering to Karivartha Perumal Karadu, Pachal. Under the guidance of 20 faculty members and the NSS Programme Officer, 50 NSS volunteers and 500 first-year students actively participated in the programme. The participants were selected based on their active involvement and commitment to various NSS initiatives, including campus cleaning, tree plantation, and plastic waste collection.
As part of the programme, students actively participated in trekking and tree plantation activities, which provided them with an opportunity to connect with nature while developing a sense of environmental responsibility. The programme also promoted physical endurance, teamwork, discipline, and a spirit of community service among the participants.
Overall, the NSS Trekking and Tree Plantation Programme was a meaningful and enriching experience that enhanced students’ physical fitness while strengthening their commitment to environmental protection, community service, and social responsibility. The programme was both educational and inspiring, leaving a positive and lasting impact on all the participants.
