Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized an Alumni Guest Lecture on “Building a Career in Mobile App Development” on 09.04.2026. The session commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Ms. T. Srimathi, II-year CSE student. This was followed by the Presidential Address by Dr. V. Hariharan, Principal, Paavai College of Engineering. Ms. R. Shruthika, II-year CSE student, introduced the distinguished guest speaker Mr. C. Vasanthkumar, Senior Flutter Developer at Biovus Blockchain Technologies Pvt Ltd, Salem. The resource person delivered an insightful session on “Building a Career in Mobile App Development” highlighting the rapid growth and vast opportunities in the mobile technology industry. He explained how smartphones have become an integral part of everyday life, resulting in a growing demand for innovative and user-friendly mobile applications across various sectors such as healthcare, education, e-commerce and entertainment.
He emphasized that a strong foundation in programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Swift, and JavaScript is essential for aspiring mobile app developers. The speaker also introduced popular development frameworks like Flutter and React Native, along with native development platforms such as Android Studio and Xcode, explaining their roles in building efficient, scalable and high-performance applications. He encouraged students to engage in real-time projects, participate in hackathons and publish their applications on platforms like the Google Play Store and Apple App Store to gain practical exposure. Furthermore, he highlighted emerging trends such as Artificial Intelligence integration, Augmented Reality (AR), Internet of Things (IoT), and cross-platform development, which are shaping the future of mobile applications. He advised students to continuously upgrade their skills, build a strong portfolio, and actively contribute to developer communities and open-source projects. In his concluding remarks, he motivated students to remain curious, maintain consistency in learning, and focus on developing strong problem-solving abilities. He emphasized that with dedication, creativity, and the right technical expertise, a successful and rewarding career in mobile app development is highly achievable.
The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. V. B. Prasanna Mangala, III-year CSE student, who expressed her sincere gratitude to the resource person for his valuable contribution in enhancing the students’ technical perspective on mobile app development.
