The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a DRDO-Sponsored One day National Level Seminar on “Defence Drones: Design and Secure Autonomous Operations” on 27.03.2026. The seminar commenced with a warm Welcome Address delivered by Ms. T. Srimathi, II-year CSE student. This was followed by the Presidential Address by Dr. K. K. Ramasamy, Director – Administration, Paavai Institutions. Ms. R. Struthika, II-year CSE student, introduced the distinguished guest speakers: Dr. S. Thanigaiarasu, Professor, Department of Aerospace Engineering, Madras Institute of Technology (MIT); Dr. K. Karthik Selva Kumar, AICTE Industrial Fellow – Garuda Aerospace, Pondicherry University; and Dr. A. Satish Kumar, Executive Director, De Drones World Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore. The resource persons delivered an insightful and engaging lecture highlighting the design and operational aspects of defence drones. They emphasized the importance of lightweight structures for improved flight efficiency, supported by advanced propulsion systems such as electric and hybrid engines. The speakers also discussed various applications of defence drones, including border security, military surveillance, counter-terrorism operations, and disaster rescue missions. Furthermore, they motivated students by discussing the future advancements in drone technology, including fully autonomous drone operations, AI-driven swarm warfare, integration with 5G technology, and enhanced cyber security systems. These innovations are expected to make defence drones a crucial component of modern defence strategies. Following the session, a feedback interaction session was conducted, allowing participants to share their thoughts and clarify their queries with the experts. The seminar concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. R. Jinisri, II-year CSE student, expressing gratitude to the resource persons, management, faculty members, and participants for making the event successful.
