The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Paavai College of Engineering organized Alumni Guest Lecture titled “Opportunities and Skills for Future EMS Engineers” on 22nd April 2026.
Ms.Srinithi S, second-year EEE, welcomed the gathering and Ms.Harishna A, a second-year EEE, introduced the chief guest.
Dr. V. Hariharan, Principal, Paavai College of Engineering, delivered the presidential address, in which he emphasized that, The EMS industry is emerging as a backbone of modern technological development. With the rise of smart devices, automation, electric vehicles and Industry 4.0, the demand for skilled EMS engineers is increasing at an unprecedented rate. India, in particular, is positioning itself as a global hub for electronics manufacturing, opening doors to vast career opportunities for our graduates.
Mr.T.Thamizharasan, Senior Automation Engineer, ASM Technologies, Banglore served as the resource person for the Alumni Guest Lecture. He highlighted that, with the rapid growth of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, and the development of smart grids and smart cities, the demand for skilled EMS engineers is growing significantly. Opportunities are available in sectors such as power generation, transmission and distribution, renewable energy companies, industrial automation, energy auditing, and smart infrastructure development.
He also stated that India, in particular, is investing heavily in clean energy and energy efficiency. This opens up a wide range of career paths for engineering graduates who are interested in working towards a sustainable future.
In addition to technical skills, do not underestimate the importance of soft skills. Communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability are essential in today’s multidisciplinary work environment.
Finally, the vote of thanks was proposed by Ms.Srinithi S, a second-year student. The Alumni Guest Lecturewas successfully concluded. The session was extremely insightful and provided participants with valuable knowledge. Dr.A.Rathinam, Mr.K.Amarnnath and Mr. N. Mohanasundaram, coordinated the Alumni Guest Lecturealong with other faculty members. Around 50 participants actively took part in the Alumni Guest Lecture.
