Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), in association with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, organized a webinar titled “Role of IPR in Global Economy: Facts and Challenges” on 14th November 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The session was led by Dr. V. Vidyaa, Founder & CEO of Vidya Intellect Consultancy Services, Anna Nagar, Chennai, who served as the resource person. Dr. Vidyaa delivered an insightful and engaging lecture, highlighting the importance of investing time and resources in research and development (R&D). She emphasized how patent licensing, technology transfer, and incubation activities contribute to building innovation ecosystems that enable nations to compete globally.
Additionally, she stressed that protecting creative works through IPR helps artists and creators earn income, promotes global cultural exchange, and strengthens nation branding.
The session began with a warm welcome address by Ms. D. Keerthika, third-year CSE student, followed by the introduction of the resource person by Ms. Monisha Raman, also a third-year CSE student. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. R. Mahibavathi, third-year CSE student.
Dr. V. Hariharan, M.E., Ph.D., Principal; Dr. A. Immanuvel, M.E., Ph.D., Vice Principal; and Mr. R. Murugesan, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Paavai College of Engineering, addressed the gathering and expressed their appreciation for the speaker’s valuable contributions.
The event witnessed active participation from both faculty members and students. Mrs. N. Nathiya, Convener of IIC, along with Heads of various Departments, around 20 faculty members, and approximately 80 students from different departments—totalling around 100 participants—attended the webinar.
