The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, in association with the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell, organized a webinar on “Introduction to Patent and Guidance for Patent Specifications” on 27.09.2025.
The welcome address and introduction of the resource speaker were delivered by S. Srinithi, II Year / EEE. The guest speaker was Er. V. Palaniswamy, B.E., Deputy Controller of Patents and Designs, Patent Office, Chennai.
The presidential address was given by Dr. A. Immanuvel, Vice Principal, who emphasized that the valuable session was intended for student innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs aspiring to protect their ideas and inventions.
Er. V. Palaniswamy initiated the session with an introduction to patents and detailed guidance on patent specifications. His talk was both insightful and inspiring, offering participants a fresh perspective on patent design. The session was highly engaging as participants gained an understanding of the importance of patents, learned methods to safeguard their innovations, and received clarity on the legal and technical aspects of patent drafting and design. The interactive nature of the session was evident as students posed several queries, which were thoughtfully addressed by the speaker, making the session lively and impactful.
Around 150 students, along with faculty members from various departments, actively participated in the webinar.
The event was organized by Mr. P. Gopinathan, Mrs. S. A. Nivethaa, and Mr. K. Amarnnath, under the guidance of Convenor Dr. A. Rathinam and Dr. N. Mohanapriyaa.
The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by D. Harinisha, II Year / EEE.
