The Departments of Automobile and Mechanical Engineering of Paavai College of Engineering organized a guest lecture on “Industry 4.0 Technologies for Green and Sustainable Industries” on 28th August 2025. The programme commenced with a prayer song, followed by Tamil Thai Vazhthu.
The inaugural function was graced by the presence of Dr. V. Hariharan, Principal, Paavai College of Engineering, Dr. A. Immanuvel, Vice Principal, Paavai College of Engineering, and Mr. R. Harisudhan, Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering. The welcome address was delivered by Mr. R. Harivallarsu, a third-year B.E. Mechanical Engineering student. Dr. V. Hariharan, Principal, presided over the function and, in his presidential address, emphasized the urgent need for industries to adopt sustainable practices while highlighting the greater responsibility of engineers in achieving this goal.
The chief guest was introduced by Mr. M. Tamilselvan, a second-year B.E. Mechanical Engineering student. The resource person, Mr. M. Yuvaraj, Corporate Head – EHS & Sustainability (ESG), Lucas TVS Ltd., Chennai, delivered the keynote address. He spoke about the importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) activities in industries and the role of modern technologies in realizing them.
In his detailed session, Mr. Yuvaraj elaborated on the implementation of the Circular Economy, Life Cycle Assessment, and Waste Management practices at Lucas TVS. He also discussed the scope, required educational qualifications, and relevant certifications to build a career in ESG departments across industries.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. S. Harish, a second-year Automobile Engineering student. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
