The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, in association with the Energy Cell, organized a guest lecture on “Energy Auditing for Sustainable Energy Management” on 24th October 2025.
The welcome address and introduction of the resource speaker were delivered by Ms. S. Sabitha K, IV Year / EEE. The guest speaker was Dr. M. Panneer Selvam, M.E., Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of EEE, Sona College of Technology, Salem.
The presidential address was delivered by Dr. V. Hariharan, Principal, who emphasized the importance of ensuring that the energy we use—whether in our homes, industries, or cities—remains both efficient and sustainable. He also highlighted the growing need to address climate change, resource depletion, and environmental degradation by adopting practices that reduce carbon footprints and promote long-term energy efficiency.
Dr. M. Panneer Selvam initiated the session by discussing how, as we move toward a more energy-efficient world, we are presented with opportunities to innovate, explore new technologies, and adopt smarter methods of managing energy. He explained that energy auditing plays a vital role in assessing and optimizing energy consumption in buildings, factories, and communities, thereby enabling informed decisions that significantly impact environmental sustainability.
The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating and raising thought-provoking questions, which were clearly and enthusiastically addressed by the guest speaker.
The event was organized by Mr. N. Mohanasundaram and Mr. T. Kannan, under the guidance of the Convenor Dr. A. Rathinam and Mr. D. Saravanan. The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. D. Kowsalya Devi, IV Year / EEE.
