The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science organized a seminar on “Big Data-Driven Decision Making: From Descriptive to Prescriptive Analytics” on August 25, 2025, at Brilliant Hall.
The event commenced with a prayer song, followed by Tamil Thai Vazhthu. The invocation was led by Ms. S. Deepika (IV Year AI&DS), Ms. M. Mythili (III Year AI&DS), and Ms. S. I. Arshun Nisha (III Year AI&DS). The Welcome Address was delivered by Ms. R. Sonaali (IV Year AI&DS).
During the inauguration, Dr. V. Hariharan, Principal of Paavai College of Engineering, delivered the Presidential Address. He highlighted the significance of Big Data–driven decision making and its vast applications across industries. He also emphasized the 5 V’s of Big Data—Volume, Velocity, Variety, Veracity, and Value.
Following this, Ms. Athulya Ramesh (IV Year AI&DS) introduced the guest speaker, Dr. R. Saravana Kumar, Professor, Department of CSE–Data Science, Jain University, Bangalore.
In his Keynote Address, Dr. Saravana Kumar shared valuable insights from his research in Big Data Analytics, Data Mining, Data Warehousing, Intelligent Systems, and Cloud Computing, stressing their relevance in modern technology. Concluding his speech, he remarked: “How Data made Billionaires and where Big Data Analytics Technologies are used.”
The session was highly interactive, with students actively engaging with the speaker and gaining meaningful knowledge.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Nagirimadugu Prathibha (III Year AI&DS).
