The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Paavai College of Engineering in association with Institution Innovation Council successfully organized webinar titled “IoT Architecture and Technologies for Smart Home Automation” on 31st January 2026.
Ms. Srinithi S, second-year EEE, welcomed the gathering and Ms. Harishna A, a second-year EEE, introduced the chief guest.
Dr. V. Hariharan, Principal, Paavai College of Engineering, delivered the presidential address, in which he elaborated that, We are living in an era where the Internet of Things is no longer a futuristic concept but a practical reality shaping our everyday lives. Among its many applications, smart home automation stands out as a powerful example of how digital intelligence can seamlessly integrate with physical environments to enhance comfort, safety, energy efficiency and quality of life.
Dr.C.Pazhanimuthu, Assistant Professor Gr-III, Department of EEE, KPR Institute of Engineering & Technology, Coimbatore served as the resource person for the webinar. He explained that Technologies such as embedded systems, machine learning, cyber security frameworks and mobile applications play a crucial role in making home automation systems not only intelligent but also secure and scalable. From smart lighting and climate control to energy management and assisted living solutions, IoT is redefining how homes respond to human needs.
He also stated that for students and researchers, this domain offers vast opportunities for innovation, interdisciplinary research and entrepreneurship. For faculty members, it opens pathways to align teaching and research with real-world industrial challenges.
Finally, the vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Srinithi S, a second-year student. The webinar was successfully concluded. The session was highly informative and enriched the participants with valuable knowledge. Dr.A.Rathinam, Dr. N.Mohanapriyaa and Mr. N. Mohanasundaram, coordinated the webinar along with other faculty members. Around 87 participants actively took part in the webinar.
