The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a One-Day Hands-on Training session on “Responsible AI” on March 22, 2025, at Brilliant Hall.
The program commenced with a prayer song, followed by Tamilthai Vazhthu. Ms. D. Keerthika (II Year CSE) delivered the welcome address. Dr. A. Immanuvel, Vice Principal of Paavai College of Engineering, delivered the presidential address during the inauguration.
Ms. Monisha Raman (II Year CSE) introduced the guest speaker, Dr. P. Karthikeyan, Associate Professor and Center Head of the Center for Applied and Responsible AI at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, R V University, Bengaluru.
In his keynote address, Dr. Karthikeyan provided valuable insights into minimizing bias and harm in AI through Responsible AI. He also introduced AI Fairness 360 and TensorFlow Federated tools.
During the afternoon session, he conducted a hands-on training session on explainable AI using SHAP, providing students with a practical understanding of achieving transparency and enhancing decision-making processes. He also demonstrated the complexity of AI bias in different models and how to mitigate it using various algorithms.
The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in live demonstrations, real-world design challenges, and engaging Q&A discussions, ensuring a thorough and enriching learning experience.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. S. Keerthi (III Year CSE).
