Anti-Ragging Committee

Introduction

Paavai College of Engineering adheres to a ‘Zero-Tolerance Policy’ towards ragging, in compliance with Supreme Court rulings, UGC guidelines, and State Government directives. Any student found guilty of ragging, whether on or off campus, will face severe consequences as per the law. Ragging is strictly prohibited within and outside the college premises. Students are expected to acquaint themselves with the rules, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to the code of conduct, anti-ragging measures, and discipline enforced by the college. New students are required to attend counseling sessions conducted periodically by college faculties.

Objectives

  • Prevent ragging both on and off campus, fostering a ragging-free environment.
  • Cultivate discipline within the campus.
  • Raise awareness about ragging among students in the college and hostels.
  • Prohibit any behavior, such as teasing new students, within the campus.
  • Address complaints related to ragging in the college and hostels
  • Maintain records of anti-ragging cases and submit detailed reports annually.
  • Organize orientation programs to educate students about anti-ragging measures.
  • Conduct awareness meetings with police officials for fresher to understand the repercussions of ragging and the importance of prevention.

Responsibilities

The Anti-Ragging Committee plays a pivotal role in creating awareness about ragging. Its main responsibilities include:

  • Investigating complaints received from students, conducting inquiries, and submitting reports to the Anti-Ragging Committee along with recommended punishments for offenders.
  • Conducting surprise raids on hostels and other areas susceptible to ragging incidents.
  • Preventing, prohibiting, and addressing all forms of ragging in the college.
  • Displaying the Anti-Ragging slogan “Zero Tolerance to Ragging” on notice boards and various locations across the campus.
  • Monitoring student gatherings in areas such as the canteen, classrooms, grounds, and hostels, providing proper guidance as needed.
